EMDR Therapy

EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing) EMDR is an evidence‑based psychological therapy recommended for trauma, PTSD, Complex PTSD, and distress linked to overwhelming or unresolved experiences. When we go through single traumatic events or repeated trauma, the nervous system can become over‑activated. This can lead to symptoms such as anxiety, depression, panic attacks, hypervigilance, flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, nightmares, emotional overwhelm, and difficulties in relationships or work.
These symptoms are not signs of weakness — they are the nervous system’s way of trying to cope with experiences that were too much, too fast, or too frightening at the time.

EMDR helps the brain process these experiences so they no longer feel “live” or threatening. It is a structured, well‑researched therapy that supports both emotional healing and nervous‑system regulation.

As an Accredited EMDR Practitioner, I guide you through a process designed to help you:

  • Desensitise the emotional charge so the memory no longer triggers intense reactions

  • Reprocess the experience so it feels firmly in the past rather than happening now

  • Reduce symptoms of anxiety, panic, and hypervigilance

  • Regulate your emotions and feel more grounded in daily life

  • Build confidence and internal resources

  • Understand how your mind and body respond to stress and how to calm your system

  • Strengthen emotional resilience

  • Rescript negative beliefs and develop more balanced, compassionate, and empowering beliefs about yourself
